Herbicide Treatments May 18

Herbicide treatments in both Twin Lakes will be applied on Monday, May 18. Signs that detail water restrictions — most of them specific to West Twin — are pictured nearby.

Tribune, also known as Diquat, will be spread near the Salisbury School boathouse and four sections north of the causeway. This is to treat for the invasive Curly Leaf Pondweed

Sonar, the highly effective treatment for hydrilla, will be spread along the perimeter of the east bay of East Twin. Sonar applications will continue every three weeks through the summer. With recent successes in the hydrilla battle, the Twin Lakes Association board hopes to re-open the Isola Bella underpass after surveying the area in coming weeks.

In West Twin, there are important restrictions on swimming, irrigation, and drinking for up to four days. They are noted on the posted signs. In East Twin, the only restriction is on irrigation lasting through the summer.

The TLA board would like to note the passing of John O’Hara, Sr., owner of the property at O’Hara’s Landing, and that business’s namesake. You may read his obituary here.
