TLA Board Meeting
Tuesday, September 26, 2023
5-6 pm. Via Zoom
Attendees: Bill Barton, Jean Bell, Jackie Blombach, Grant Bogle, Erica Cohn, Russ Conklin, Carey Fiertz, Dave Haab, Rich Haupt, Dan Kadlec, Eric Stoer, Danny Vogus
- Hydrilla Update: Russ reviewed slides (found on the website) regarding the treatment of the marina for hydrilla. While still too early to know for sure, it appears that the herbicide is beginning to kill the hydrilla. The native plants and the invasive milfoil have been killed. An assessment of the treatment effectiveness and options for ongoing treatment in the marina and “escapes” beyond the marina, will be explored with scientific experts and DEEP personnel on October 3 at a meeting at O’Hara’s Landing. Post this meeting, a complete update to the TLA community will be provide via the newsletter.
- Strategic Planning Session: The board discussed the need to hold a strategic planning session later this fall. The issues facing Twin Lakes are becoming ever more numerous, complicated and expensive. We need to prioritize where we focus our efforts and organize in a manner that will allow effective management of the lake ecosystem. Grant will propose dates to the board.
- New board members appointed: The board approved two new board members by unanimous vote of the attendees and written confirmation of those who could not attend: David Mathus, a long-time lake resident, attorney and business leader, and Adam Mayer, a math teacher at Salisbury School and avid lake user. Adam is the official board representative of the Salisbury School. Both Dave’s and Adam’s bios can be found on the TLA website.
The meeting adjourned at 6 pm.
