Proposed Upland Review Area And More On Agenda

In a letter to town authorities this month, the Twin Lakes Association board expressed support for a proposed expansion of the “upland review area” near waters and wetlands. This comes as the Inland Watercourses and Wetlands Commission prepares for a public hearing on the proposed expansion on May 12.

The proposal and the TLA response are the key items on the agenda for a member update on Wednesday, April 30, at 7 p.m. You can join the Zoom update here.

The proposal would enlarge the upland review area to 100 feet from waters and wetlands, up from 75 feet. This is a major revision from a proposed enlargement to 300 feet several years ago. That effort stalled amid pushback from some property owners. Read more about it here.

Also on the agenda is a discussion of hydrilla spread and lake treatments for all invasive weeds in 2025. The board will also offer an update on a pilot program to test for cyanobacteria, an increasing threat in Connecticut as the climate warms. Other agenda items include a financial update and dates to remember.

Please come prepared with questions. You can learn more by looking at the following documents:

Dues for 2025 should be paid now. The rate is $50 per adult. You can pay via the TLA website or by mailing a check to Treasurer, Twin Lakes Association, P.O. Box 99, Salisbury, CT, 06068.
